We will stay in two of our cabins: Krekling Lodge and Slettebu cabin.
To reach Krekling Lodge after prepared and packed everything, we go on a snowmobile journey ~35 km east from Longyearbyen to Krekling Pass through the peaceful landscape of Advent Valley. We’ll pass by the famous Opera Mountain, which is named for its beautiful amphitheater-shaped valley.
Some customers will be required to drive snowmobiles, so earlier motorbike experience and/or a driving license is required. Guests without a driving license are welcome to join as passengers.
Although this is only 35 km from Longyearbyen, it is truly an unforgettable place where you will find a sense of calmness and enjoy the pristine polar environment. Krekling lodge is located just above Krekling Pass and has breathtaking views over four different valleys and along the ridge of Otto Mountain. This unique location provides us with tremendous opportunities to explore the surrounding area.
The mountains in this area -Ottofjellet, Albert Bruntoppen, Arctowskifjellet and Lousitaniafjellet- are allover 900 meters and offer stunning views over Sassenfjord and Tempel Mountain.
After a few days, we move towards area of Van Mijenfjord to reach another cozy cabin Slettebu. The snowmobile journey ~75 km south from Krekling Pass to Reindalen, one of Spitsbergen’s largest and most spectacular glacial valleys. At the end of it, we traverse over the Slak Glacier before reaching Van Mijenfjord.
The mountains in Southern Nordenskjöld Land are a dream for skiers and snowshoers around the Arctic! This mountain range is well known for its variety of beautiful routes.
After active adventures during the day, we’ll treat ourselves to peace and quiet in our cozy and warm Slettebu Cabin. Here, you can experience the remoteness of Svalbard’s wilderness.
While our cabins are comfortable, warm, and surrounded by epic views, there are no modern facilities such as toilet, shower, or running hot water.
We’ll spend everyday outside during this adventure. Together with your guide you’ll explore the varied terrain that the surrounding area has to offer discovering high peaks, traversing valleys, and finding your way over moraines and onto glaciers.
The mountains in this area -Gustavfjellet, Skalken, Lundgrenfjellet and Aspelintoppen- are all over1000 meters and offer stunning views over Van Mijenfjord and the eastern part of Spitsbergen.
We can cover short distances by snowmobile to reach different locations for our daily excursions if necessary.
Svalbard experiences 24 hours of daylight starting at the end of March and we are able to explore for much longer periods of time than is possible in places where the sun sets earlier. This is one of the best parts of exploring Spitsbergen during the spring.
Please kindly note that depending on the weather and snow conditions, we might alternate the itinerary and start the trip with Slettebu cabin and finish it at Krekling lodge.
